Skills Pathways Escalator
Skills Escalator – qualification pathways explained
There are a number of different ways to gain qualifications – with technical/vocational qualifications; traditional academic options; or learning whilst in work. These options are supported through our district schools, colleges, universities and employers.
The image below shows which qualifications are available at each of the different levels.
Learners can progress along any of the pathways, and jump between the different routes. So following getting GCSEs (levels 1 and 2) learners could move to doing T’Levels (level 3) and then a higher apprenticeship (level 4).
These pathways can be followed throughout individual’s full careers, regardless of their age.
Less formal learning can also be achieved through informal pathways, through self-learning supported by community provision.
