CA1: Supporting job searches

A Community Engagement Coordinator had received a referral by the NEESIE Project, a charitable organisation set up to support singles parents. Once the community engagement coordinator had met with the client they had found that the client had been unemployed for over ten years but was now interested in finding work where she can work with others. The client has expressed that her work history as a cleaner in a residential home had profound effect on her outlook in life in terms of empathy towards others.

However, the client’s childcare responsibilities meant that she needed a shift based role. After gaining an understanding of what the client’s needs were the community engagement coordinator suggested finding work from a home care provider that allowed her to work hours that fitted with her parental commitments. The coordinator gave guidance on how to complete the application form and even helped the client prepare for an interview which resulted in the client being offered the position. The client was then having difficulties with references but the Engagement Officer helped her overcomes these leading the client to fulfil her ambition to support and care for others.
