CS2: Encouraging personal development

J has been working as a hairdresser before having a child, this changed her employment needs. She had approached SkillsHouse with her CV to help her find work. Her CV showed that she had completed Level 2 and Level 3 Health and Social Care qualifications. Meanwhile, SkillsHouse had been contacted by a home care provider that had a need for care assistants in Shipley. J had aspirations to specialise in dementia care as she was a personal carer for her father who passed from the illness.

The Community Engagement Coordinator explored Level 2 specialist courses in the areas for health and social care and found a course suitable for the qualifications and interests’ J had expressed. J was enthused to contact the local college and with the support of Community Engagement Coordinator applied for the care assistant position. The confidential and impartial support from SkillsHouse felt liberating to J and encouraged her to progress with her training and career.
