Health and Care Career Ambassadors

Health and Care Career Ambassadors

Our career ambassadors are people working in health and care working to inspire the next generation of our clinical and non-clinical workforce, including nurses, social workers, doctors, porters, HR and many more (over 350 professions).

Our aim is to attract, recruit and retain people to our local health and care service in Bradford District and Craven (BDC).

What do you do as a Career Ambassador?

  • Act as a champion and representative for the health and care service in BDC
  • To spread the word and help us attract and develop more ambassadors across BDC
  • To be committed to engaging with a calendar of events (minimum of two) across the year.

What does it involve?

  • Meeting enthusiastic students who are wanting to discuss career pathways in health and care, you may be asked about qualifications and entry requirements
  • Attend career assemblies, classroom talks, local career events and employability sessions to talk about your career journey into health or care
  • You may carry out sessions virtually, such as Q&A’s and mock interviews.

What are the benefits?

  • To get an insight into the range of careers on offer and see how you can develop and progress in your profession
  • To improve your confidence and communication skills, while interacting with small and large groups of students
  • Help shape the next generation of health and social care students
  • To plug any future recruitment and retention gaps.

All new ambassadors are offered an induction and have a ‘buddy’ when attending events for the first time.

We don’t expect you to be an expert, you’ll be provided with a list of common frequently asked questions, and a range of marketing resources that can help students understand next steps as well sign posting to useful websites.
