Rukeya is currently working as a Matron and is responsible for renal medicine.

She is also a professional lead in adult outpatients as well as a senior midwife and professional midwifery advocate. She is very passionate about her job and is driven to working towards more senior leadership NHS roles. Throughout her education she found her peers and teachers underestimated her and gave her very little support due to her BAME background.

However, Rukeya knew from a young age that she wanted to work in health care and therefore took strides towards that sector. After completing her A’ levels and O’ levels Rukeya undertook numerous courses and training sessions whilst working on her personal and professional development. Although she sometimes finds it challenging to manage people’s expectations Rukeya has a positive outlook on life and believes a “can do” attitude always make a difference.
